Built on a unique site in Kyrenia, Cyprus, marked by a natural stream and a 7-meter elevation drop, this residence for a family of four turns steep topography into its greatest architectural asset. The design begins at the street-level entrance, which houses the main bedrooms behind a contemporary facade that protects family privacy. From here, a striking steel-and-glass staircase descends to the lower level, where the main living room, kitchen, dining area, gym, and study form an interconnected common space that opens directly onto an expansive pool terrace.
Strategic level differences framing sweeping mountain views define the home's multi-dimensional layout. Deep within the lower level, two glass-enclosed Zen gardens pull natural light into the interiors, creating quiet, nature-integrated pockets inside the structure. Outside, the living area extends to a versatile entertainment terrace featuring an outdoor dining setup, an open-air cinema, a fire pit, and a lower-level swimming pool fountain. The pool area also integrates a dedicated gym terrace, balancing fitness and leisure. To accommodate social gatherings effortlessly, terraced landscaping provides direct external access to the pool area so guests can enter without walking through the private quarters. Throughout the site, existing native oak trees have been preserved, blending the building seamlessly with its surrounding environment.
